Delta Epsilon Psi, Help When Needed Most

The pain of handling deadly ailments strikes many individuals and their families every day. Leukemia is one such sickness which leaves the ill in a healthfully degraded position which can ultimately lead to the absolute loss of hope. One such individual who has recently been thrust into such a painful reality is Dr. Anand Prasad from Jacksonville, Florida. Leukemia has made a drastic impact upon thousands of individuals this past year due to the relation of Dr. Anand Prasad to a brother of Delta Epsilon Psi. Preaching brotherhood, Delta Epsilon Psi stresses the importance of giving help to all brothers as well as their respective family members. In order to do so, the brotherhood put forth the struggle to help save Dr. Prasad's life by initiating Be the Match bone marrow drives around the nation to find any possible match for potential transplants.

At Delta Epsilon Psi's Alpha Alpha colony, we personally helped recruit and sign up over one hundred people into the bone marrow registry to further the cause. In the course of about five hours, the brothers at the University of Georgia not only worked to find a match for Anand Prasad but also for others stricken with Leukemia as well. Not only was the drive here a success due to the number of participants, but also due to the fact that the brothers worked to promote the awareness of Leukemia itself.

This, however, is not the only philanthropic endeavor sought by the brothers of Delta Epsilon Psi as we also strive to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Since establishment at the University of Georgia, the Alpha Alpha colony threw a highly successful Sugar Free Bowl, a flag football tournament benefiting J.D.R.F. In doing so, the brothers were able to raise about $3,750 for the foundation. Working to support such noble causes not only enlightens ones self but also works to strengthen brotherhood in times of need. For such a reason, Delta Epsilon Psi Fraternity, Incorporated truly exemplifies the idea of being a social, but more importantly, a service fraternity
