2011 Rookie Of The Year
Delta Epsilon Psi Fraternity, Inc. looks for the younger generations of brothers to become leaders of tomorrow by carrying on the mission of our fraternity in their work for the community, school and fraternity. It is this reason why the Rookie of the Year award was created. The award recognizes a young and upcoming brother who has been active within the fraternity since his membership.
Dipesh Patel was named the recipient for the 2010-2011 Rookie of the Year award during the 8th annual National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since joining the organization Mr. Patel, who is currently the President for the colony, has been instrumental in developing the colony at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
In the past year, along with the support of his colony, Dipesh was able to obtain a prestigious recognition from the university as members of Greek Council. Under his term as President, Dipesh has been able to bring the Who’s Got Game? basketball tournament to Wayne State University, in which the colony raised $1,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. In addition, Dipesh has been able to create and maintain a working relationship with the university and other Greek organizations on campus. His selfless nature in helping his brothers, friends and family has been admired by many.
Dipesh’s brothers within the fraternity look up to him as a mentor, and more importantly a leader. He continues to strive in his scholastic goals while going beyond the expected in helping the Detroit community and fraternity. When speaking about Dipesh, his line brother once said, “when someone puts their last sweat and tears into this fraternity, you know this person is committed not only for the time being, but for the future.”
Mr. Patel is currently a junior at Wayne State University and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology. His aspiration is to apply his skills and talents in the medical field as a future physician.
