Moving Forward at Xi Chapter
With the graduation of many of our founders, there was anxiety on the level of success Xi Chapter will achieve this year. To prove our critics wrong, Xi Chapter kicked off the school year by throwing its second annual Raas for a Cure. Held in the North Gym, this event turned out to be a huge success as more than a hundred people showed up including brothers From Sigma and Omicron Colony. All in all, everyone had a great time doing Garba and Xi Chapter was able to raise 500 dollars. Xi Chapter will continue to make this a yearly event.
Xi Chapter held its first annual Dodging Diabetes Dodgeball tournament on November 30th 2011. A total of 11 teams participated in this event including many Greek organizations such as Delta Phi Epsilon, Delta Zeta, Delta Sigma Phi, and Sigma Beta Rho with support from Sigma Sigma Rho, Phi Sigma Sigma and a monetary donation by Kappa Phi Gamma. The event turned out to be a huge success with 700 dollars raised for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Brothers from our neighboring colony, Sigma, also came and showed support by making a team.
Shortly following the success from our Dodgeball tournament, Xi Chapter threw its first CEO educational event on Employee and Student Invention Rights presented by Neal Orkin, who drafted the patent rights of Drexel University. This event also turned out to be a huge success with more than 30 people in attendance. Xi Chapter participated in a social with one of the Panhellenic Council sororities; Phi Sigma Sigma. This was our first social of the year with a white sorority. It also turned out to be a success. The brothers of Xi Chapter with Phi Sigma Sigma made enough dinner and dessert to serve fifty people.
With the help of our brotherhood chair, Xi Chapter had two brotherhood dinners this fall term. All brothers would be assigned an appetizer, entrée or desert. We would compete to see who had the best overall dish. While serving, we would all sit down and watch Sunday Night Football. Currently, our brotherhood chair is planning a skiing trip to take place during winter break that many of our brothers are really looking forward to.
Xi Chapter would also like to welcome and introduce our Theta Class to the public on January 19th, 2011. All brothers are currently busy planning on throwing another successful probate on Drexel University’s campus. Everyone was blown away by the performance of our Zeta Class Probate. We are looking to make this one bigger and better! Many other great things are in the works right now for Xi Chapter as soon as break ends. We are proud of all the hard work and dedication that our brothers put forth to put us in the position we are in today. Our social chair is currently planning socials with IFC fraternities on campus as well as other PHC sororities.
We are looking forward to starting the year off with a bang.
