Doing it for the Children
This spring semester was one of the best spring semesters we have had at the Founding Chapter. We started out with an excellent rush which brought us 8 new brothers who will contribute to our fraternity in the future. We also fundraised enough money to help throw one of the biggest Project Come Together this chapter has seen in history. This service event consisted of over 30 organizations coming together to show elementary students the good time that you can have if you remain to get good grades and also good attendance. We showed the 3100 students from different elementary schools around Austin, Tx that college is not only hard work, but also fun.
With the help of the Neighborhood Longhorn Program, 30 different organizations consisting of fraternities and sororities to pre-dental organizations, and all of the active body, we put together the largest one day of service that this campus has seen. We even got older alumni members such as Amish Patel, Cyril Mathew, and Tai Morshed to come and talk to the children before the event began. This event was successful in the fact that every fraternity active at our chapter pitched in and helped work the entire event starting at 630 in the morning. There were also many other service events that our chapter attended. The main ones consisted of the Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc. C.H.I.L.D week, the Delta Phi Omega Sorority Inc. Service week, and also the Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority Inc. CARE week. The CARE week was the most important to us in that we have a Big/Little program with Kappa Phi Gamma. We attended their Mr. Care Week Pageant in which we won third place against other very talented individuals. We also helped Baal Dan with their service day in which we participated in their dodgeball tournament. All the money for this event was donated to the Baal Dan Charity Organization to help children in India. The dodgeball tournament was a major success because our chapter won the tournament.
With the money that we won, we kept the enough money to cover the entrance fee and donated the rest to the charity organization.
