Tau Colony's: Protect Your Balls Dodgeball Tournament

Tau Colony decided to throw a dodgeball tournament in coordination with the Relay for Life competition. In a Newark-wide contest, organizations and different groups made teams to see who could raise the most money for Relay for Life. We took the fundraising on our campus to a new level. Under the alias, Team Delta Force, we threw a dodgeball tournament in our gymnasium. We made fliers and it was the most prominent thing seen on campus. Everyone was talking about our tournament as if NJIT Senate was throwing the event. Senate is the student body government who basically throw the biggest events on campus. NJIT staff called it one of the best publicized events this semester. We had 16 teams sign up with an entry fee of $20 per team. The tournament was a great success with almost 80 people competing and many more spectating. This event not only helped a great cause but also helped us gain positive credentials among other Greeks and school organizations. Along with this tournament and the fundraiser we held at On The Border Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, we have raised $500 for our Relay for Life team. We are now in a race for 1st place. On Saturday, April 2nd, we will be fundraising at Red Bull Stadium in order to seal a 1st place spot. Hopefully, we can do a bigger event next year and be able to donate to our national philanthropy as well as Relay for Life. When the actual event takes place, we expect to take 1st place in the city of Newark. Our brothers worked extremely hard in order to throw this event. In the end, our event was one of the biggest on campus this semester. This tournament made it into the school newspaper as well as the school yearbook. Our next mission is to throw a basketball tournament or a Sugar-Free Bowl. In the coming years, we will throw bigger and better events with more organizations. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc and Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc are just some of the groups have shown interest in collaborating with us on an event. We hope to bring a whole new age of events at NJIT starting with this tournament.
