Mu Colony's Path to Success

After a rough patch, Mu has crossed 9 admirable gentlemen into Delta Epsilon Psi, the biggest class thus far amongst MGC and NPHC organizations. Mu was the first fraternity on the Multicultural Greek Council to ever host a probate.  This has led to a movement of every other organization to host their own probates on campus, most recently by Sigma Lambda Beta and Gamma Beta in the future.

Meanwhile, current colony president, Robin Sunny, has also escalated to become the president of the Multicultural Greek Council.  Since his new position, he has actively worked to better every organization within the council as well as unite them together through service, leadership, and academics, the three staple principles of every Greek fraternity and sorority.

Recently, the Center for Campus Life at TTU hosted its annual Greek Awards Ceremony.  Robin Sunny was put up for “Outstanding MGC Member Of The Year”, but came in at a close second by a loss of only vote by the judges.  However, in spite of this loss, Mu Colony won the “Excellence In Community Service” Award and Rushabh Dev (Founding Class, Mu Colony) won the Michael D. Shonrock Visionary Leadership Scholarship.  It was a very successful night as it was the first time Mu had won awards at the banquet.

Our third annual Dodging Diabetes tournament is just around the corner.  We are expecting it to be a great success, fundraising much over $1000 through just corporate sponsoring.  Team registration money has not been accounted for yet, but several student organizations are said to be coming including Gamma Beta, Phi Beta Sigma, and more MGC and NPHC fraternities and sororities.

Along with our national philanthropy, Mu has somewhat adopted bone marrow as a pseudo-philanthropy.  Cook’s Children Hospitals has named Delta Epsilon Psi, Mu Colony, as the West Texas Ambassadors to “Be The Match”. We have been contacted during school breaks to run drives in our respective hometowns.

Mu Colony has done very much since its beginnings in the Spring of 2008.  From several social events such as mixers, parties, and the simple “hello” to a multitude of service events like Dodging Diabetes as well as getting together with a sorority to clean up a highway, Mu Colony has made a definite and unforgettable impact on the Texas Tech campus. We are now planning our last few events of the semester, one of which includes our first formal.  We wish to look back and remind ourselves of the hard work we have put into our beloved fraternity and all the success we have acquired because of it.

Our alumni network continues to grow.  The first alumnus was Sachin Patel (Founding Class).  He now works in the Metroplex area for several companies as an investment advisor. Companies include Vanguard, T. Rowe Price, Raymond James, Franklin Templeton, and John Hancock Investment Advice.  Rushabh Dev and Zachariah Sunny (Alpha Class) will graduate this May with degrees in Chemistry and Pubilc Health, respectively.
