The Sky is the Limit, So Touch It
Becoming a brother of Delta Epsilon Psi has had one of the biggest impacts in my life. Having an opportunity to be a part of this service organization has changed my whole persona. Everything I expected out of this Greek life is everything I achieved. From networking to mental strength, I have achieved it all. Before, I never really faced challenges anywhere close to the challenges I faced during the process. The process to become a brother of DEPsi gave me an opportunity to faces many challenges that required not only physical strength, but mental strength. I grew stronger in my head. The world changed through my eyes. I saw every single thing in a whole new perspective and it became a more optimistic person because of the intake process. I believe everything in life should be looked at in a positive manner. The roles I had during the new member process and upon crossing have helped me in certain aspects of my life. As treasurer, I have learned to better manage my finances and account all revenue and expenses. Being the fundraising chair of my colony has also allowed me to be creative. Fundraising is not an easy task as most would think. So, I had to do some deep and creative thinking on how to give my colony opportunities to make money. This process allowed me to tap into my creative and brainstorming juices I never really realized I had.
I never thought about feeding homeless people or helping the needy for a good cause. Delta Epsilon Psi is a service fraternity and it gave me a reason to do good deeds in life. Service has opened my eyes to appreciate and value who I am and what I have. I have made many connections through servicing and fundraising that could be a potential future asset.
I am a better person when it comes to helping people. I have learned to always help not only my brothers but also anyone who is in need to any sort of help. I have a hard time saying no to helping people. Organization and prioritization are two of the biggest skill sets that I have adopted into my life. I do not know what it was, but I take better responsibility towards “what needs to be done” now than I ever did before. This organization is great and it has brought many great things into my life. I have learned a lot of new things, which are very important to me. I have many assets now that could define me as a man.
Overall, my experience through the new member education process and as an active brother have changed me as a person and turned me into a young, responsible man. Delta Epsilon Psi Fraternity, Inc. has created a fire in me to achieve more than I ever wanted to before. The frat has opened my eyes to what is really out there and how dreams can become your reality if you put your mind to it and go for it. There are no limitations in life. I am proud of my letters and more importantly, grateful to this frat and the lessons it has taught me.
