Proud Brother of Delta Epsilon Psi

I’ve been around Delta Epsilon Psi for as long as I can remember. In fact, I knew the Founders at Theta chapter before they even officially became brothers. I found this thought provoking because, being a brother of a founder, I knew I had big shoes to fill when it was my turn to shine. However, I didn’t want to follow in the footsteps of a legacy, but instead, I wanted to start my own. The path to becoming a brother of Delta Epsilon Psi was not an easy one, as I experienced much self-growth and maturing, growing pains that were necessary for me to become the man I am today. But having been part of this phenomenal organization after a whole year, I can truly say it was one of the best decisions of my life. The resources I have now and the contacts I have make me feel at ease whenever I travel across the country because I know I can contact any brother and they will take me in. I went to the previous National Convention, and met brothers from all corners of the country and it felt as if I knew them for years. Each and every member invited me to visit their city and guaranteed they would take care of me if I ever come. Convention was one of the best experiences of my life. Convention wasn’t all about partying, but it was much deeper because I learned a lot from just one weekend. I learned essential tools that will help me out in the future such as building resumes, conducting better interviews, governing pre-existing bodies, how to get into professional schools, regional support, and much more. The main idea being that we are able to do anything and more because we deal with all aspects of life and that is the foundation of this prestigious organization.

Even internally, I saw the impact that my being a part of this fraternity had, with regards to academic success. As Academic Chair for the last academic year, I was able to help our brothers reach their full potential, and as of Spring 2011, our chapter had the highest fraternity grade point average in our governing body, the Unified Greek Council. To have been part of that arduous journey to bring our chapter up through the ranks of our council was both and honor and a privilege.

Overall, I know that I can take the pride of Delta Epsilon Psi with me for the rest of my life, because of everything I have learned, both internally and externally. From my experiences that I have encountered, I became a different person for all the right reasons.
