Our Fraternity: Brotherhood, Service, and Beyond

Delta Epsilon Psi has positively affected my life in a multitude of ways.  Starting with the influence of the brothers emphasizing a life dedicated not just academics and service, but also brotherhood, discipline, and commitment.  This fraternity is not just a fraternity, but also a coalition of members who pride themselves on representing the three pillars of this magnificent organization.  Through various service events, be them on a small scale or a signature campus-wide service event, I personally have grown to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever possible.

There’s a difference in doing service as a requirement, and doing service because one wants to.  This passion for doing service and helping others has developed as a result of this organization.  Even smaller scale activities such as donating blood, or helping out with a sidewalk/bake sale to raise funds can create a big impact on a cause if one puts their dedication and hard work into it.  After joining this organization, I realized that when I act in a positive manner, not only am I representing my own personal character, but also the character of all the brothers nationwide.  This allowed me to instill good values that maintain a higher quality of character in myself, and gave me the opportunity to grow as a person; specifically, from a man into a leader.  There are many things that most fraternities can provide: social events/activities, opportunities to feel apart of something bigger than oneself, etc., but Delta Epsilon Psi gives you even more: the chance to do something different, and dedicate oneself to brotherhood, discipline, and commitment beyond the norm.

As a service first organization, this fraternity prides itself on the amount of hard work put in to help out many charities, namely JDRF, our national philanthropy. Because of this, I too have developed a deep passion for service and helping others.  In closing, I owe more to this organization than I can list on paper, from the positive influences of brothers, to the invaluable lessons learned through running this organization, the list goes on.  The fraternity is growing, increasing the number of brothers similar to me; those who pride themselves on not the normal activities, but those who have fun helping others, see the true benefit of aiding those in need, devoting themselves to hard work in school and in extracurricular activities, maintaining a higher standard of values than most, growing as men into leaders to spread the pillars of brotherhood, discipline and commitment, developing into righteous human beings who will positively affect society, those who will not give up at the first downfall, and finally those people who decide to stand up when the status quo is not up to par.
