On My Wall

After being a brother of Delta Epsilon Psi for almost two years, I have gotten a chance to learn a lot about myself. Not only have I become a better person, I have become a better leader. People in my life have realized that I have changed for the better. It starts from the way I walk. I am no longer walking around on campus with my head down with a crooked posture. I walk around like I have a purpose. I have become a lot more active on campus. I have met so many different people. When I look back on the past two years I feel like I have accomplished a lot more than I had expected.

Being a brother of Delta Epsilon Psi has made me realize that the campus is full of diversity. There is always something to do. There are a lot of clubs and organizations on campus that can not only help myself, but also benefit our colony. Before being a brother of this fraternity, I would not have been able to approach many of these organizations. Now I realize that most of these organizations look forward to hearing questions and/or comments about themselves.

It all honestly started with the people I have met since being a brother of Delta Epsilon Psi. I have learned so much from brothers throughout the nation. Just learning from their experiences, and them giving me advice on how I can advance in life. They have really given me the confidence and encouragement that I needed. For example, nowadays on campus, I am not scared of having to meet and talk to new people. After doing several service events on campus, the president of the leadership and service center on campus has asked me personally for my number, and we stay in contact whenever they need a hand with anything.

We have done multiple service events on campus. We have gotten a chance to volunteer at the blood drives on campus and also had a chance to volunteer for breast cancer awareness. This gave us a chance to learn more about these specific events, and also learn about personal experiences people have gone through. Going through these service events has given me a better understanding on how a small little gesture can help out a lot. Not only are we getting appreciation from the school, but we are also getting appreciation from the people who we have a built a connection with.

Every morning when I wake up, I see those letters on my wall and I smile. I know I made the right choice. I try looking back at where I would be without this fraternity and it is really hard. I have been through a lot the past couple years, but I always knew my brothers will be there to get my back.  I have learned a lot about myself in the past two years. I know have become a better person, and a stronger leader.
