Reconnecting with MGC and our Own

Recently, Epsilon Chapter had two of the biggest social events for the spring 2011 semester at OU. We had Delta Dinner, with the lovely ladies of Delta Phi Omega. Delta Dinner is one of the most anticipated events because almost everyone comes out. Alumni and all actives of both organizations come out to have a fun time. This year due to the amazing weather, we hosted a barbecue/pool party for Delta Dinner. Fellow brother, Akhil Patel said, “I like Delta Dinner, because it’s a break from all the stress of spring semester, a good time off right before finals.” One of the main traditions held at Delta Dinner is the pranks the underclassmen pull on the seniors. The senior class of 2011 was not spared this year. Senior Pratik Patel said, “For many years I was the one pulling the pranks, now I got pranked, but it was fun. I will miss everyone next year.”

A great event hosted by our Multicultural Greek Council was the end of the year dinner. members from every fraternity and sorority that comprise MGC were in attendance. For us, it was a virtually a social mixer with each sorority and fraternity. Through the various icebreakers we were able to diversity ourselves to all the people in MGC. Fellow brother, Neil Patel said, “MGC dinner got us out of our comfort zone and forced us to know our fellow MGC members.” Overall, MGC dinner was a huge success because we met knew people and had a great time.

Recently, we at Epsilon Chapter were able to reconnect with our own. Two of our founders, Manish Patel and Ankur Bhakta came down to Norman to catch up with the guys. For members of our newest classes, this was the first time they were able to meet our founders. Iota class member, Shaheryar Daudani said, “I never had a chance to meet the founders before, but I was happy to meet them today. They brought Delta Epsilon Psi to the University of Oklahoma.” We were able to have dinner with our founders and enjoy a long night of lasting memories. Founder, Ankur Bhakta said, “Epsilon Chapter used to have 6 actives but now we are up to 15, this place has grown, and I am really proud.”

The past few weeks were a great end to the year. We were not only able to reconnect with MGC but our founders before everyone went their separate ways for Summer Break. Delta Epsilon Psi allowed every active to realize the benefits of the large family that the greatest South Asian fraternity has to offer.
