The Life of Delta at Alpha Chapter

From the day I decided to join Delta Epsilon Psi, it seems like everything in my life has become a learning experience. It seems like every day, I have learned something new from a brother. When the founders of this fraternity came up with the quote “In brotherhood lies our strength,” they were being serious. In brotherhood is really where our strength lies. I crossed in Iota chapter and I got a glimpse of what this fraternity means and why Deltas have so much pride, but when I transferred to Alpha Chapter, I truly learned what that quote means. With all of the tests that I have been put through, I would not have been able to get through it without my brothers.

On January 28th 2011, we lost a brother, Neal Patel, and everyone was shaken up, not only here at alpha chapter but nationally, which brought out the utmost pride in me. I’d think to myself, as hard as it was to lose such a close friend and brother, I have other brothers who will keep my spirits up in a time of such need, and that is exactly what happened. Everyone came together and we were closer than imaginable, seeing everyone work hard together made me believe that I made the right decision by joining such a great decision. The passing of our brother didn’t slow us down, instead it made us work harder and strive for higher levels of success. It seems like this past semester, we did just that. From getting recognition from the Bengalis of Greater Houston to getting recognition and a lot of help from Masala Radio with promotion for Festival of India, we did things I thought would be virtually impossible, but impossible is nothing and I would like to say that we proved that statement. The planning and execution of hosting an event of such amplitude as Festival of India taught me a lot of things which I will use later on in life, whether its setting up an event or executing a big project at the corporate level, this event has helped me learn what it takes to execute such a great event. I would like to give an immense amount of appreciation to the brothers of Alpha chapter for giving me the opportunity to do such great things as we have done this past semester. Rest In Peace Neal Patel.
