Making a Difference
Being a brother in Delta Epsilon Psi has affected me in many positive ways. I was never really involved in campus life. I didn’t want to make my university a better place because I saw no point in it. I am a commuter and was never really on campus a lot. I just went to college and went back to my area that I know better. I never really explored what my university had to offer. I never knew the programs that my university had to offer or the great diversity. Now things are different. Now that I have brothers that are on campus I am exposed to the great diversity that my university has to offer. We have become more active on campus now that we are together rather than individually. We keep each other motivated to do these things knowing that we are making a difference.
There are many volunteer services here with great programs. I figured that there would always be others to do volunteer work. I never took responsibility in myself to dedicate time to an important cause. Now that I see how important it is to make a difference, I have become more involved in campus life. A few brothers and I, recently volunteered time at a blood drive on campus. The experience was well worth it. The staff was so grateful for us helping them out because it was so busy. They appreciated us and wanted us to help out with the next one.
Having that feeling of being appreciated by people that we just met, gave us a sense of accomplishment. It gives us motivation to keep volunteering our time and effort knowing that it is for a good cause. Knowing that you made a difference in your university gives you a great feeling. In todays’ society we need leaders who are willing to dedicate time and effort. Being a part of Delta Epsilon Psi has shown me the importance of this. Everyone is busy these days with work and school and time is of the essence. To dedicate a few hours every week can change this world and make life easier for generations to come.
