What DEPsi Has Done For Me

The fraternity Delta Epsilon Psi has changed my life in many positive ways and continues to introduce me to new opportunities.  Having only been an active member of Delta Epsilon Psi for a couple of months, I have further developed many important values such as brotherhood, leadership, and most importantly community service involvement.  Before I came to the University of Miami, I did not know anyone else that was attending. While in my first semester I have made a great number of friends, however, Delta Epsilon Psi has given me brothers that represent the core essence of brotherhood: friendship, reliance and loyalty.

I will always have brothers that are willing to help me out no matter how little or big my problem is, for instance, when I was sick a few weeks ago, my brothers checked up on me every few hours to see how I was and they also brought me medicine, food, juice, and more.  Not only will my brothers here in Miami be there for me, but so will all the ones nationwide that I have never met before. Because of this, I can literally go anywhere in the nation and have a place to stay, eat, and rest without any worry.

Leadership skills are something I have always had since high school, however, when I came to college, I was uninvolved in campus activities and blending in with the general student population.  However, DEPsi has encouraged me to take part in other organizations and has given me opportunities to become a leader that would not have been as easy to get without joining this fraternity.  Delta Epsilon Psi is first and foremost a service fraternity, so it has really encouraged me to take part in as many as service activities as possible.

Every week, we try to do service work such as giving food to the homeless, cleaning up trash, and other similar activities.  While even if it is just for a couple of hours, we are still making a positive impact on the community.  We also have bigger service projects such as our Haiti reach out project.  This spring, a few of our brothers are going to Haiti to help conduct medical check-ups and physicals for the less fortunate people of Haiti.  I would love to take part in these service activities even if I was not in DEPsi. However, Delta Epsilon Psi has provided me a gateway to make a major impact on the Miami community as well as the international community.
