How DEPsi Changed Me
About five months earlier, I was a selfish amateur. I decided to go to college, just because my parents told me to do so. When I was young, I was always too nice to everyone. My mother told suggested me to put myself before caring for someone else, but unfortunately I took it the wrong way. When I joined this organization, I realized that putting myself before someone else, was wrong.
This fraternity taught me lots of skills to help through the rest of the life, one of them being leadership skills. In order to become a great leader, one needs to supervise his/her peers, and put them first. I learned the proper etiquettes on how to talk to people with respect, because at the end of the day, in order to gain respect, you have to give respect. Becoming a part of Delta Epsilon Psi Fraternity, Incorporated really trained me for future leadership positions. It provided me with the working knowledge of how a fraternity runs, and hopefully one day I will be held responsible as a leader for my peers.
I am glad that I chose to join DEPsi because the skills and knowledge I have received will for sure help me later on in my life. Every day I asked myself one question: “Why I was joining a fraternity?” I found the answer to that question which is that this fraternity brought out my full potential. The commitment to myself, my future line brothers, and most importantly, my cause of joining the greatest brotherhood out there fueled me to show the discipline I needed to become a leader. Humans have the natural tendency or the need to belong to a certain group, but that’s where the reason comes in of “Why DEPsi?” For me, it’s probably the easiest question ever, because this fraternity offered me everything I needed at this moment. Like I said before, I had always been selfish, but brotherhood in me was instilled in me.
Before joining this fraternity, no matter what decision I made, I never went through with it all the way. But now, I stay committed with my decisions for the first time and I believe I have accomplished something bigger than myself. I was always a foolish kid who never listened to my parents, but these 3 letters on my chest disciplined me, made me mature and taught me how to respect my elders.
