Two Years Later
Delta Epsilon Psi has affected my life through the pillars it has instilled in me: brotherhood, discipline, and commitment.

Brotherhood was one aspect that was emphasized to me repeatedly since I started pledging. Thus I continue to emphasize the lessons I learned through pledging to the newer classes. While pledging, I did everything with my line brothers, ranging from something as simple as getting breakfast at the University Café to helping each other out with homework assignments. Since I’ve become an active, one event that stands out in my mind is learning how to step.  Stepping with my brothers in Greek events not only brought all our brothers together but also helped us to elevate our reputation above the rest of the Greek organizations on campus. Stepping requires a lot of hard work and though it may seem funny, without a doubt it is a very good example of how the pillars of brotherhood, discipline, and commitment have now become an active part of my life.

When it comes to service, Gamma Chapter has showed me that our commitment to the community has definitely not dampened over the years. This coming month, we will be doing Big Event, with the Indian Students Association, which is the largest, one-day, student-run service project in the nation. Last year, my brothers and I helped out various families in need in the Bryan/College Station vicinity. Our jobs ranged from painting houses and raking leaves to repairing roofs and other household appliances. Last year, we hosted our 1st Annual Christmas Wish Dinner, where we were able to donate 127 toys and raise over $100 for the children in Twin City Missions, a homeless shelter in Bryan, on a single night. Being part of something so selfless was very fulfilling and definitely inspired a lot of people to stand up and take notice of our commitment to service which is sure to only get stronger.

“We don’t turn boys into men. We turn men into leaders.” This was the statement that caught my attention and encouraged me to pledge DEPsi. Now, an active for over 2 years, I can say I completely agree with that statement. Having headed various committees both inside and outside of the fraternity and helping lift our fraternity’s name over all Greeks and Non Greeks alike, I believe it is safe to say, DEPsi is here to stay and the only way to go from here is UP!
