NORMAN, OK-On March 26, 2010 The Brothers of Delta Epsilon Psi, Epsilon Chapter won its fourth consecutive President’s Trophy Award. The President’s Trophy is the most prestigious award on OU’s campus. Almost all fraternities and sororities compete in this competition to be recognized as the best organization on campus. President’s Trophy is an award separated into four categories. The categories are Volunteerism, Academics, Multiculturalism, and Campus Activities. This year, the Brothers of Epsilon Chapter won the Volunteerism award. This award goes to the fraternity with the most service hours per active. “I was so proud when I heard our fraternity’s name announced as the winner,” said Zein Jivani, Epsilon Chapter President. “It was almost impossible for me to hold in my excitement and still act professional when receiving the award. It is such an honor.” The University of Oklahoma’s President, David Boren, recognized Delta Epsilon Psi in front of all fraternity and sorority councils on campus. Delta Epsilon Psi was the only fraternity in the Multicultural Greek Council to win a President’s Trophy award. DEPsi also received a superior rating for Multiculturalism and Campus Activities. “This is another milestone for our Chapter,” said Vice President, Pratik Patel. “Every year the competition for President’s Trophy is getting steeper and steeper. This shows that we are stepping up our game to keep up with the other organizations. Year by year, we are progressing as a fraternity and our growth is far from being over.” Last year, Epsilon Chapter won the President’s Trophy for Multiculturalism. The two years before that, Epsilon Chapter was awarded the President’s Trophy for Volunteerism. The next evening at Epsilon Chapter’s formal, the Brothers announced that they would be donating 750 dollars to the Vishal Bhagat Foundation. Throughout the semester, the brothers had many small fundraisers to raise money. “This is the most money Oklahoma has ever donated to the foundation,” Jivani said. “We are doing big things here and we keep raising the bar higher and higher. We are not going anywhere anytime soon.”
