Each year, we recognize one Chapter that has had that impact in their school and community, this year the award went to our largest chapter who year after year hosts events that have a lasting impact in Austin, the Founding Chapter.
In the last year, the Founding Chapter at the University of Texas at Austin successfully recruited nine brothers into the fraternity, all of which have excelled in the fraternity and their leadership to take on Executive Board or committee level positions. They hosted a successful Sugar Free Bowl which raised over $10,000 which was donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and spread awareness to all the participants and spectators that came from all over Austin to watch and participate. Founding Chapter was also in the midst of hosting its 10th Annual Project Come Together on campus before an outbreak of the swine flu virus hit the country and in an effort to protect the children and other participants, the chapter postponed the event until this coming school year. In addition to their signature events, Founding Chapter continues to build strong relationships with the South Asian Sororities on campus along with other fraternities. Their continued impact on UT Austin's campus and in the fraternity is proof of their success in being The Founding Chapter.
